So far through my experience with the 21st century skills it has been difficult for me, because I don’t have the access to the new technology for my classroom. Maybe the reasoning that things like the smart board are not issued for my classroom is because I teach emotionally disturbed children and it’s a high risk of it getting damaged. But the school building that I teach in has the updated technology, but only certain classes are allowed to use them. I think that the technology will be integrating into my classroom soon because it seems to me that it has such a high demand in education now. I agree with this because the population of kids I teach will find it interesting rather then displaying inappropriate behavior.
My classroom has four teachers in one room all day so there needs to be constant communicating and teaming daily. My team meets 25 minutes in the morning to discuss issues or concerns before the day starts this way we know whose role is what. We also have 1 hour at the end of the day to discuss what issues may have occurred if any, and if there was any important information that we should know that we where unable to discuss during the day. It also gives us time to plan lesson ideas for the next day.
In terms of 21st century skills dealing with communication my classroom is right on track. Our classroom model is based off of communication and co-teaching. I think we also do a good job when it comes to high productivity, when it comes to real world tools. However, we prepare our students with the tools for the real world without technology. If we could find ways to incorporate technology more, we would have even greater success. Hopefully our school district keeps up the progress it has made so far with 21st century skills so we can continue to provide our kids with the knowledge they need.

Technology is supposed to level the playing field, not be held for a select few! I hope this changes for you in the future. I have had emotionally disturbed kids and they never took out a piece of equipment. They like it too much! I'm glad to hear your team works well. It's nice to hear after yesterday's stories that were just the opposite. Keep in mind, most 21st century skills DON'T require technology!
